NRA Basics of Pistol Firearm Instructional Class

Learn the fundamentals of pistol safety and operation in this comprehensive 9‑hour course led by NRA Certified Instructors. Designed for beginners and those seeking formal certification, the program covers:

  • Gun safety and responsible handling
  • Operation of revolvers and semi‑automatic pistols
  • ​​​​​​​Ammunition knowledge and selection
  • ​​​​​​​Pistol selection, storage, and maintenance
  • ​​​​​​​Shooting fundamentals and marksmanship
  • ​​​​​​​Range safety and inspection practices

All classroom materials and supplies are included in the cost. Please note: no firearms or ammunition are permitted in the classroom. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch for the full‑day training.

On the range, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification. Each participant will receive:

  • The NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook
  • ​​​​​​​A student examination
  • An official course completion certificate signed by the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor
