The Tactical Advantage Sportsman's Complex (TASC) at Range 14 is home to the Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation program. TASC is a popular gathering spot for camaraderie among sportsmen.

Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation offers an array of services including a long distance shooting range, skeet, trap, sporting clays courses, a known distance archery range and 3-D archery course. Outdoor Recreation also offers firearm checkout for use at the range as well as a well-stocked pro-shop featuring firearms, accessories and archery gear. Event checkout equipment including bounce houses and inflatable, tables, chairs, canoes, kayaks and bicycles.



TASC boasts two archery ranges for archers to hone their skills – a 13 position known distance range, starting at 10 yards out to 70 yards at 5 yard increments to 30 yards then every 10 yards, and a 10 station 3-D archery course. Basic recurve bows are available to rent for a nominal fee.

Archery Classes

Intro to Archery
This beginners class teaches the parts of the bow and arrows and instructions on basic safety and shooting.

Know your Bow
A class for Compound Bow owners – bring your bow. Classes are $40 per person and include instruction materials, range time and lunch.

Archery Tournaments

All archery tournaments are held at Tactical Advantage Sportsman's Complex (Range 14). Tournaments are open to the public, ages 5 to adult. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies are awarded in 12 classes. Highest score for March, May and August tournaments combined will be awarded an Archer-of-the-Year award. Registration begins at 9 a.m., shooting begins at 10 a.m. and no registration will be accepted after 10 a.m.

3-D Tournaments are 20 targets and cost $15 per person/$7.50 for FGSC members.

Hunting Class Tournament is 20 targets. The cost is $20 per person and the first 50 participants get a free t-shirt.

Fishing Events

Bass & Crappie Fishing Tournaments
Tournaments are held at Daylight to Noon at Butler Reservoir and boats are needed. Electric motors only – combustion engines are not allowed. Outdoor Recreation has a small fleet of jon boats and trolling motors available to rent (see the Outdoor Equipment Checkout page for more details). Cost to participate is $20 per person with an optional additional $5 to enter the big fish contest. 1st and 2nd place prizes are awarded when there are 10 or more competitors.

Kids' Fishing Derbies
Twice a year and Open to the Public, Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation and the Fort Gordon Sportsman's Club hosts two kids' Fishing Derbies in conjunction with national Fishing day in June and National Hunting and Fishing Day in September. Trophies are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each of 4 age groups for the most weight in pounds caught. The first 300 anglers receive a free t-shirt. A free hot dog lunch is provided to for all children. Live bait is provided. Bring your own pole or rod and reel (limit one rod per child).

Georgia Hunter Education Courses

Outdoor Recreation and the Fort Gordon Sportsman’s Club host several hunts and the Georgia Hunter Hunter Education class each year. Courses are held on the first floor auditorium of Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon. Hunters wishing to hunt on Fort Gordon must complete both nights of this course. The course is free of charge and open to the public. Pre-registration is recommended at Hunters may now call +1 (706)791-5010 to get information on open and closed hunting areas on Fort Gordon.

Special Regulations

All hunting is subject to Post regulations – firearm deer hunting is limited to shotguns with slugs only or primitive weapons. Hunters not associated with the military installation may apply for permits for all species by registering in the Quota Hunt at between 1 May through 15 May. You must be 16 years old to apply. Permits are required to hunt. Access may be restricted due to training requirements. All hunters must possess a hunter safety certificate.

Shooting Range


Recreational Shooting

Tactical Advantage Sportsman's Complex, Range 14 is open for Recreational Shooting every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during Winter season) and on select Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m (9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during Winter season). The range is open for zeroing firearms, sport shooting, pistol, rifle and black powder shooting. A 3-D archery range is open for archery shooting. The cost for shooting is $12 per day, per person, FGSC Members shoot for $5, and youth under the age of 16 shoot for $2.

NOTE: Firearms can legally be brought onto the installation for the purpose of hunting or firing at the approved firing range, and only for the period of time the person possessing the firearm is hunting or firing on the range.

Anyone wishing to bring a firearm onto Fort Gordon must have an approved FG Form 9243-R-E (Personal Firearms and Weapons Registration Form):

Skeet and Trap

Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation offers two lighted skeet and trap fields during regular business hours. Group reservations are available by appointment.

Skeet and Trap Fees: $9 per round (25 shots)

Shotgun Rental: $5 plus the cost of shells

Sporting Clays

Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation is proud to offer a 10 Station/20 position Sporting Clays course.

Sporting Clays Fees: $25 per round (50 shots)

Shotgun Rental: $5 plus the cost of shells

As of 1 May 2019, sporting clays will be by reservation. Please call during normal operational hours to make a reservation at least two days in advance.

Fort Gordon Sportsman's Club


Outdoor Recreation Tactical Advantage Sportsman’s Complex is home to the Fort Gordon Sportsman’s Club (FGSC). The FGSC has evolved from the old concept of the Rod and Gun Club as an organization serving the outdoor enthusiast. The club promotes safe hunting, archery and recreational shooting as well as responsible fish and game conservation among individuals of Fort Gordon and the Augusta Community. The FGSC supports the Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation with volunteers for Special Events and Range Operations. FGSC Memberships are available to ID cardholders and the public. Benefits include reduced rates for Outdoor Recreation shooting ranges, fishing tournaments and archery tournaments. Fees are $70 per year for individual memberships and $100 per year for family memberships.  Meetings are held the third Thursday night of each month at the Tactical Advantage Sportsman’s Complex, building 00445 Carter Road. The Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation-Outdoor Recreation would like to invite you to join the Fort Gordon Sportsman’s Club.


FGSC members will consist of active and retired members of the Armed Forces and their family members, DoD civilians, contractor personnel doing business on Fort Gordon, GA with contracts that exceed 90 consecutive days and residents of the CSRA community not affiliated with Fort Gordon (general public). Membership will not be denied to any person based on sex, race, color, national origin, ethnic group, handicap or age. Membership in the Sportsman's Club carries with it a responsibility and willingness to participate in workdays and other events sponsored by the club. It is encouraged that each member in support of the club spend at least four hours per month in volunteer activities.

Club members are offered discounted fees (often 50%) to most Outdoor Recreation programs and activities.

Individual Membership Dues:
To become a FGSC active member, individuals will complete a FGSC application form, read and understand the FGSC Constitution and Bylaws and abide by their provisions. The individual membership fee is $70 annually. The expiration date of the active membership is one year from the date the membership card was issued. 

Family Membership Dues:
A family membership, consisting of husband/wife and unmarried children who are under the age of 25 years and still in school. The family membership fee is $100 annually. The expiration date is one year from the date the membership card was issued.

A free renewal membership will be given to members that volunteer at least 4 special events a year, or 2 special events with "Range Duty".
