NRA Basic Classes at TASC:

Come learn how to shoot a pistol or rifle through the teaching of the National Rifle Association (NRA). We also teach the NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course as well as the Basic CCW. Want to volunteer through your community or with us? With the Basic RSO Course, you will be certified to be an RSO through the NRA. Contact us or visit us at TASC to find out more about volunteering on the range. All courses are taught by Certified NRA Instructors through the NRA.

Basic Range Safety Officer Course:

The NRA Range Safety Officer Course is a HANDS-ON one-day (9 hours) course conducted in a classroom setting only. This is a NON-SHOOTING course. It is designed to teach you the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and effectively supervising various types of shooting activities and range operations safely. This is an ADULTS ONLY course and requires you to be 21 years of age or older to attend. There is also a Range Safety Officer Registration/Processing fee through the NRA that is paid directly to the NRA after successful completion of the course. The registration fee is $175.00 and is due 10 days before the class date. Please call us to make payment. If you are not a DOD ID cardholder, please let us know two weeks prior to class.

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course:

Course topics include Gun safety, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship and shooting range safety.

Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.

Cost is $125 per person and includes all materials, range fees, ammunition, and use of firearm.

NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course:

This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting. The class is eight hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.

Students will learn the following:

NRA's rules for safe gun handling, rifle parts and operation, Ammunition, Shooting fundamentals, Range rules, Shooting from the bench rest, sitting, standing positions, Gun Cleaning, Opportunities for skill development.

Cost is $125 per person and includes all materials, range fees, ammunition, and use of firearm. Registration closes 10 days before class, so plan ahead!

NRA Basic Conceal Carry Weapon (CCW) Course:

Course topics include firearms, their safe handling, safe storage, how to safely carry a firearm, and understanding of Georgia and South Carolina gun laws and enhancing their shooting skills.

The Concealed Carry Class is a one-day 10-hour class that allows residents of Georgia and South Carolina to become Familiar with the firearms they own, and familiar with deploying the firearm in different concealed carry situations. We believe it is the responsibility of every firearm owner to be educated and as safe as possible. This course will not count towards the South Carolina Carry Permit Course you need to get a permit in South Carolina. You also don't need this course to get a Georgia Conceal Carry License either. However, it will teach you how to carry a weapon if you never have carried one before, then highly recommend taking this course.

The class consists of a half-day of a classroom lecture. Lunch is NOT provided by TASC. The second half of the day, the class will move outside to our firing range for practical skills application of the material discussed in the class and the Concealed Carry Proficiency course of fire. Upon completion of the class, you will receive a certificate. We hope that you enjoy the class and take away something that is going to benefit your safety and the safety of others. One-day class, you must be certified in the NRA Basic Pistol Course in order to take this class. Must have your own firearm pistol, holster, three magazines, and 150 rounds of ammo. We also have ammo available to purchase as well, if needed.

Lunch is not provided.
