April is Month of the Military Child

We hope you will take part in celebrating all of our military children in April during the Month of the Military Child!

MOMC events will be held virtually at each of the Child and Youth programs. The programs will include the following virtual activities during April.

April 1st

Proclamation and Month of the Military Child Kick Off

 

April 1st – 30th 

Young Lives, BIG Stories Contest

 

April 2nd 

World Autism Awareness Day - Aims to put a spotlight on the hurdles children and youth with autism face every day. Wear blue in support and recognition of children and youth with autism.

 

April 6th

CYS youth, ages 6-18, have the opportunity to participate in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the most virtual soccer ball passes.

 

April 12th – 16th

Week of the Young Child (WOYC) and the 50th anniversary Celebration. This national recognition is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

 

April 18th – 24th 

Purple Up! For Military Kids Week – Wearing purple is a visible way to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices.

 

April 19th – 23rd  

Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week aims to recognize those who work with youth during out-of-school hours.

 

April 22nd  

Earth Day theme: Restore Our Earth.

 

April 23rd – 24th 

BGCA Military Teen Summit - CYS Youth Programs are partnering with BGCA to offer the first virtual Military Teen Summit in accordance with Operation Megaphone. Army youth will have an opportunity to discuss relevant issues with military youth from other services.
