Key Differences To Watch Out For:

Admission & Eligibility:

  • Charter Schools (SAIL & GSIC) are tuition-free public charter schools open to any student residing in the state of Georgia, though preference is given to local county residents.
    • Admission is typically determined by a lottery system if interest exceeds capacity.
  • Richmond County Magnet Schools (Davidson, AR Johnson, RCTCM, CT Walker) are highly competitive public schools that require a formal application process. Selection is based on academic criteria, auditions (for Davidson Fine Arts), test scores, and sometimes interviews.
    • You must reside in Richmond County to attend

Academics:

  • SAIL focuses on integrating dance, music, and visual arts directly into standard core subjects.
  • GSIC provides a classical education model focusing heavily on the liberal arts, Latin, and civic virtues.
  • AR Johnson and RCTCM are powerhouse programs for STEM, cybersecurity, healthcare pathways, and engineering.
