Ice Storm Operations Update: Facility Closures & Adjusted Hours

Fort Gordon Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) is closely monitoring the incoming ice storm expected this weekend. The safety of our patrons, staff, and community remains our top priority. To allow employees adequate time to safely secure facilities and return home before freezing rain is anticipated, several programs will have adjusted hours or closures.

Please review the information below and plan accordingly.


Saturday – Adjusted Hours & Closures

Early Closure at 2:00 PM

(The following facilities will curtail operations at 2:00 PM on Saturday to allow safe shutdown and travel before weather conditions worsen.)

  • Alternate Escapes Recreation Center (gaming, pool, movies, ping pong only)

  • Eisenhower Lakes Golf Club

  • Fort Gordon Indoor Pool

  • Hilltop Riding Stable (Morning and evening feedings will be completed; horses will have water and will be properly blanketed.)

  • Meme & Bobo’s Express Chinese

  • Nelson Fitness Center

  • Surrey Car Care

  • Torch Fitness Center

  • Woodworth Library

Conditional Operations

  • Domino’s Pizza – Will remain open as long as conditions allow and in accordance with Installation guidance. Hours may adjust as required.

Closed with Monitoring

  • Leitner Lake Recreational Complex & Pointes West Army Resort – Facilities will be closed; tenant areas will be monitored to ensure safety.

Remaining Open (Weather & Power Dependent)

  • Overlord Fitness Center – Will continue 24/7 operations as long as power remains available.

Closed All Day Saturday

  • Alternate Escapes Café

  • Bingo Palace

  • Five Star Lanes

  • Tactical Advantage Sportsman's Complex (TASC)


Sunday – Full Closure

All non-essential MWR programs and facilities will be closed on Sunday due to anticipated hazardous conditions.


Monday – Delayed Opening Possible

If the Installation determines a delayed opening is necessary for Monday, updated messaging will be released no later than 5:00 PM Sunday evening.
