Free Tools to Make Moving Easier

Whether you’re planning your first PCS or your fifth, these tools can help you stay organized, get answers, and prepare for life at your new duty station.

Woman using laptop

Here are some of the most helpful relocation tools:

  • Plan My Move
Build a personalized checklist based on your moving timeline and Family needs. You can add reminders for things like shipping household goods, enrolling kids in school, or setting up new medical care.

  • MilitaryINSTALLATIONS Search for installation-specific contacts and programs. This is a great way to learn about schools, housing, transportation, and ACS services at your next location.

Welcome Packets and Area Guides

ACS provides printed or digital welcome packets with local maps, phone numbers, school district info, housing contacts, and more. Ask your local ACS for a copy.

Below are some extra tools and resources to help with your transition:

Forms and Publications

Permissive TDY:
Service Members on Permissive TDY for house hunting in conjunction with PCS are NOT required to visit the Housing Services Office to have leave forms stamped.  If Soldier's PTDY was approved by the losing duty station, the gaining unit must add a statement in Block 17 stating that the "Soldier arrived at the new PDS on (date) to start PTDY" and sign the statement.

Computer Access:
Need to use a computer, or a place to use yours? Our welcome center in Room 172 has computers available for printing documents, completing surveys required during in-processing, setting up household goods shipments, checking mail, etc.  We also have a charging station for your mobile devices.
